Becoming a YFC client is easy! And every telephone or face-to-face contact with us is confidential and safe. Just call our New Client Coordinator, Catherine Van Damme, at (847) 367-5991 ext. 13, or send an email to email@example.com to get started.
When leaving a message, please provide your name, phone number(s), the best times to reach you, and a brief description of your counseling needs. Catherine will usually get back to you within 24 hours. She will call you to discuss your counseling and scheduling needs and to match you with one of our therapists.
Your First Conversation
Your first conversation with Catherine will take 10 to 20 minutes. She will ask you a number of questions to determine your counseling and scheduling needs. She will also ask you to provide insurance information, or talk about financial arrangements if you are not insured.
Once Catherine gains an understanding of your counseling needs, she will match you with a therapist who can assist with your specific concerns and schedule your first appointment. After the appointment is set, your therapist will call you to introduce him/herself and confirm the date and time of your first visit.
We do our best to schedule your first appointment within two weeks of your conversation with Catherine. We will make every effort to handle urgent requests for counseling as soon as possible, or direct you to other resources.
The more flexible your schedule, the more readily we will be able to offer you an appointment time. We offer daytime and limited evening appointments.
Your First Appointment
Before you meet with your therapist, you will need to fill out some paperwork. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to review and complete our New Client Registration Packet. If you prefer, you can download and print the New Client Registration Packet in English or Spanish at home. Fill out the forms before you arrive at our office to save time at your first appointment. Please remember to bring your insurance card, if you have one.
At your scheduled appointment time, your therapist will greet you in our waiting room and bring you to his/her private office. The two of you will review your paperwork together to make sure everything is complete and to answer any general questions you may have. Your therapist will also make a copy of your insurance card for your file.
Once the paperwork is complete, your therapist will ask you about the concerns that have brought you to counseling. This first session is really a time to talk about your needs and how counseling can address them. Typically you will schedule your second session with your counselor toward the end of your first appointment.
A counseling session lasts 45 to 50 minutes. You can expect to be in our office for about one hour or a little longer if you plan to complete the paperwork in our waiting room.
