counselingServing the people, schools, and community organizations of central Lake County, YFC provides mental health counseling and community outreach services.

Our professional staff of licensed clinicians focuses on individual strengths, empowerment, and coping skills to improve emotional wellness and ability to meet life’s challenges. All of our therapists have, at a minimum, a graduate degree in counseling, therapy, or social work; many of our talented staff have additional certifications and training in areas of specialization such as substance abuse, couples counseling, and grief counseling.

YFC provides counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. We offer group support through specialized programs including our Unbridled Hope equine-assisted therapy program (temporarily on hold due to COVID-19), and Bridges which helps children to grieve and grow after loss. In addition, we offer programs in school settings that focus on building friendship skills and bullying awareness and prevention. In our role as a community mental health resource, we provide workshops and speakers on many topics.

YFC is proud to play an active role in preparing the next generation of mental health professionals. Each year, graduate-level interns come to us for “clinical supervision” – the hours of counseling experience under the supervision of a qualified, licensed professional – required to complete their degrees.
